Welcome to The Chris & Emilee Show

What do you get when you cross your morning commute with answers to some of life’s toughest questions?  You get the Rush Hour Riddle - Every morning at 7:30 a.m.  Put your thinking caps on and you could win some great prizes.  Check out some of the most recent riddles by clicking on Riddles in the menu above.

Before you head off to begin your grown up day, take a moment to be a kid again.  Start your mornings with  Rise & Shine Story time at around 6:20 a.m.  Whether you laugh out loud or think it’s lame, it’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face.  And that’s the way to start your day – with a smile.

Mornings can be the most hectic part of the day.  You’ve got the motion, so we’ve got your devotion.  Dig deeper with Devotions In Motion at 6:35 each morning.  When the heat on life gets turned up, look into God’s Word for the courage and strength you need for the day.

If “muse” means -Deep thought; close attention or contemplation.  than “Amuse” would be the lack of it.  Just a glance at what’s going on in the news can leave you overwhelmed, and maybe even a little depressed.  Here’s a look at some news stories you may not hear much about.  News on the lighter side.  News you really can’t use.  It’s just News To Amuse at 8:05.

Today Is:  A look at some weird whacky unusual holidays.  Some are funny, some are cute, and some are absolutely ridiculous.  The one thing they have in common is they are REAL.  They’re on the books somewhere as an officially recognized day.  Find out what Today Is at 9:35.

Join us 6 to 10 Mon. -Sat. for Life Stories, Fun Lists, and much more.  We want to Laugh Louder, Dig Deeper, and Live Larger in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Thank you for picking Amos 4:13 as the verse today. Ever since I found it, I have loved that verse. I think you should have listeners pick the verses for you too (and you can fill in when you don’t have any responses). They could even dedicate them to someone special. It would be fun. Such as “Connecting you to God’s Word, powered by Batteries Plus…Nancy picked Amos 4:13….”

Chris and Emilee, I just wanted to share with you that since my Christmas wish was granted for my friend, Diane, (oh, btw, Crown Motors is giving her a vehicle, her car was beyond repair! AMAZING!! ) I personally have been SO blessed, people have given me gifts of money to help me out during this difficult time of year!! I am SO blown away at the Love that God has for me :) I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this wonderful thing!! I pray that your radio station will be blessed beyond blessed this coming year!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Dear Chris & Emilee…. thank you so much for granting my families Christmas Wish…. when I heard Renee on the air with you this morning… my heart stopped for a minute and then the phone rang…. I cannot begin to tell you what this means to us! When you hear someone is in foreclosure and they are going to lose their home… no one thinks of what that all entails… it is not just a family being uprooted after 9 years of living in a home, but packing up 20 years of life together is overwhelming (when we moved to where we are now, it was Christmas 2002). Our kids were 10, 8 and 6 then…. this is the home they remember the most :( It will be a very bittersweet Christmas for all of us, but we are all together. We have no idea where we are going (which is a scary thought)… but, at least the stress of moving is lifted off our shoulders. Thank you again for your generosity, the generosity of those who graciously volunteered to help us, to Renee who is a dear friend, but most of all to God for allowing such amazing people in our lives. God Bless and you may have a joyous Christmas and a very blessed new year.

  9. I was so excited to hear about your LEFSA!!! Thanks for posting the video. I sent the link to my mom, as her parents were from Norway. Since grandma passed away 15years ago this month, my Mom and I have been trying to duplicate her Lefse. We don’t remember watching her make the dough, so I’m looking forward to trying your mixing technique.

My memories of Lefse is grandma bringing it dried and stacked in a box that grandpa had made for her, tied up with string, and bringing it on the Amtrak train from Colorado to Chicago. She’d dampen the hardened lefse between old scraps of dampened cloth and then fill with the butter/sugar/cinnamon — I can’t wait to try it warm!

Happy Lefse making this holiday season.

Thank you for making me smile every morning on my way to work!

Wow! this does look good Emilee. I am wondering if this little Dutch girl should give it a try. My 6 1/2 yr old daughter and I watched your video while (trying) to get ready for school on friday morning and were nearly late for school we were so engrossed.
She is my little kitchen helper and loves to try new things. We just may have to give this one a try because since we often have leftover mashed potatoes.
      Thanks for posting this video

Just wanted to let you know that Mark Schultz commented during his concert last night that you guys are “The Best Radio Hosts EVER”. You had already left the concert – - – but I wanted you to know he gave you great recognition. Don’t go all “ROCK STAR” on us now and not allow anyone to get near you or talk to you (haha – inside joke!) It was awesome meeting the two of you last night.

From you personnel assistant/video recorder last night,
    Becky Visser
PS: Once you hook up my own phone line into the rush hour riddle, let me know! :)

  18. Eric Winters says:

    Chris & Emilee,
I just wanted to say thank you for being on the radio. I have had a very rough past 2 months.
I just lost my step father to cancer in June of this year. And I have been trying to find the reason for things, and what challenges or journey that the Lord is placing in front of me. I do know that we may not know what his plans for all of us is, but he does. But listening to the two of you in the morning and just making the devotions in motion really does help out with waking up and slowly understanding on what the Lord’s plan is for me. So from the bottom of my heart. I wanted to say thank you to you both. Just a shame I didn’t find you guys sooner before I move next weekend.

  19. Alissa says:

Thank you both so much for what you do. When I listen to your show it really makes me feel like I am part of a HUGE and wonderful family! It makes me want to get in my car and go to work and/or class in the morning! God is working through you and I am so glad that He is using you to wake me up in the morning!

  20. Dawn VerHoeven says:

Just want to tell you that you make my morning so much fun. God has blessed you so much and just keep up the great work. It was great meeting you tonight you are a great couple.

  21. Jayne from Holland says:

    Just have to share this…
Only because I’m a stickler for grammer, everytime I hear Emilee say “There are dense areas of fog…” I have to laugh because I think, “Duh, I’m Fog.” Thanks for making me laugh :)

  22. Chris and Emilee says:

aaaaand……..now I see sunshine on the western horizon. ;)
It’s tough to keep up with the MI weather.

  23. David says:

ok who writes your weather forecast? 50 % change of rain. Have you looked outside? There is no chance, It IS raining and booming out side.

  24. Kathy Six says:

Thanks for the news to amuse. I hear it every day on my way to work and it starts my day laughing. Love to laugh at the lunacy of our country, especially when we’re in the midst of tragedy all around us. That little laugh reminds me I can have a good day even when I can’t control the tragedy around me, God has a plan and His plan at that moment is to make me laugh.

  25. Gwen Rubio says:

    Dear Chris and Emilee,

Do you know how tough it is to continue getting ready for work in the morning when every break has a Pure Michigan commercial? Those just make me want to get out and explore my Michigan even more – right now!! But then I have to be cooped up in a school? Yikes! I have had some real challenging days already this spring! It is hard to contain this adventurous firecracker anyway, with the constant lure of a poetic beckoning to come out and play in the great Michigan outdoors is even harder!

    Be blessed today and always!,
    Gwen Rubio

    • Carrie says:

      Dear Qwen…here’s a little payback I gave C & E…
      Keep it simple
Like Chris’s jokes on a warm sun drenched morning
We take him as he comes right out of the blue
As he seems to answer the call of the wild
We stay within the walls of our own choosing
And that’s why we need Chris to wash away the stress of the day
She sometimes takes us the long way home
With good lessons learned, warm and welcoming
We can immerse ourselves with views of open spaces
Where we can jump, swim, dive or riddle away the day
With Emilee refreshing us in the blue water of the Word
From greater Grand Rapids to quaint picturesque Allegan
Let’s walk to the beach so we can breathe the clear air again
They’re waiting for you to come and experience
The Pure Chris & Emilee show.

They read it on air on JUly 13. It’s in the podcast.

  26. Elizabeth says:

Just wanted to share that I love listening to your show every morning on my way to work – I always laugh, and cry…..Keep up the great work and God Bless you and yours.
